Point-Source Sorbent Technology.

Dotz Nano-Porous Point-Source Sorbents are specially designed, using durable carbon-based and polymeric materials, to ensure consistent, high-performance CO2 capture. Leveraging physical adsorption, these sorbents feature a vast network of ultra-micropores that maximize CO2 uptake. Regenerated through vacuum swing adsorption (VSA) and temperature swing adsorption (TSA), they enable efficient, repeated use. Optimized for high CO2 concentration flue gases (>10%), these sorbents provide a robust and reliable solution for industrial carbon capture applications. Demonstrated at a lab-scale rig.

Frequently Asked Questions.

What is Point-Source Carbon Capture?

Point-source carbon capture refers to the process of capturing CO2 emissions directly at their source before they are released into the atmosphere. This technology is typically applied to industrial facilities such as power plants, cement factories, steel mills, and chemical processing units where CO2 concentrations in flue gases are high. The captured CO2 can then be stored underground or utilized in various applications, such as enhanced oil recovery or the production of synthetic fuels. The goal is to prevent these emissions from contributing to global warming.

Dotz Nano Porous Point-Source Sorbents are specifically optimized for point-source applications, leveraging physical adsorption techniques to maximize CO2 uptake from high-concentration flue gases (>10%). This makes them ideal for industries seeking efficient and sustainable carbon capture solutions.

Dotz Nano Porous Point-Source Sorbents utilize a network of ultra-micropores within durable carbon-based and polymeric materials to physically adsorb CO2 molecules. These sorbents work by trapping CO2 within their porous structure during the adsorption phase. Once saturated, they can be regenerated through either vacuum swing adsorption (VSA) or temperature swing adsorption (TSA), allowing for repeated use without significant degradation in performance.

The physical adsorption mechanism employed by Dotz Nano Sorbents is particularly advantageous because it requires less energy compared to chemical absorption methods. Additionally, the sorbents are designed to handle high concentrations of CO2 efficiently, making them suitable for industrial applications where emissions are concentrated.

Unlike most carbon capture technologies that use liquid chemicals, Dotz’ carbon capture technology utilizes plastic waste as main raw material, facilitating two benefits: industrial decarbonisation and plastic circular economy. We utilize our expertise in synthesis and surface chemistry to engineer nano-porous materials with unique pore volume, size, and distribution specially designed for effective carbon capture. These sorbents provide enhanced efficiency, reduce costs of carbon capture, and minimize environmental impact.

Dotz Nano Porous Point-Source Sorbents offer several advantages over traditional carbon capture technologies:
  1. High Performance: The ultra-microporous structure ensures maximum CO2 uptake even in high-concentration flue gases.
  2. Durability: Made from robust carbon-based and polymeric materials, these sorbents maintain consistent performance over multiple regeneration cycles.
  3. Energy Efficiency: Regeneration through VSA or TSA minimizes energy consumption compared to other methods.
  4. Scalability: Demonstrated effectiveness at lab-scale rigs (TRL 4-5) indicates potential for large-scale industrial deployment.
  5. Cost-Effectiveness: Physical adsorption methods reduce operational costs compared to chemical absorption processes.

Dotz Nano Porous Point-Source Sorbents are particularly suited for industries with high-concentration flue gases (>10%), including:

  • Power generation (coal-fired and natural gas plants)
  • Cement manufacturing
  • Steel production
  • Chemical processing
  • Fertilizer production

Compared to other carbon capture technologies such as chemical absorption or membrane separation, Dotz Nano Sorbents offer distinct advantages:

  1. Lower Energy Requirements: Physical adsorption requires less energy than chemical absorption methods.
  2. Higher Durability: The robust materials used in Dotz Nano Sorbents ensure longevity and consistent performance.
  3. Ease of Regeneration: VSA and TSA methods simplify the regeneration process compared to other techniques.
  4. Cost Efficiency: Reduced operational costs make these sorbents more accessible for widespread adoption.

These factors position Dotz Nano Sorbents as a competitive option in the realm of industrial carbon capture.

Dotz Nano Nano-Porous Point-Source Sorbents have been successfully demonstrated at lab-scale rigs with Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 4-5. This indicates that they have undergone rigorous testing under controlled conditions and are nearing readiness for pilot-scale deployment in industrial settings.
